Health 2.0 selected CGI Federal Inc. (CGI), a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc. (NYSE: GIB; TSX: GIB.A), as the 2010 winner of its Challenge for Consumer Apps to Visualize Health Care Quality Measures. The challenge, supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was designed to spur innovation in creating easy-to-use applications to help Americans make decisions about their healthcare.
Selected from a broad set of industry submissions, CGI created a web- and mobile-based hospital “compare” application (app) as part of an overall Healthcare Quality system. The hospital compare app allowed consumers to personalize their searches of the government’s data and then evaluate hospitals based on the quality measures important to them. Consumers could filter search results by ratings or directly compare several facilities. The mobile app also included a feature showing emergency room wait times, contact information, and driving directions.
The CGI team donated the $2,500 cash prize to the American Heart Association (AHA). CGI presented its solution at the Health 2.0 Conference from March 21–22, 2011 in San Diego, Calif.
